I’ve written a few times about how much I enjoy Twitter. Not only is it a great tool to communicate with people around the world, it’s a great place to get ideas, and share your own. I’ve always published a link to new Simple Llama posts on Twitter, and Twitter has always been my biggest source of traffic. Pretty wild.
I started off manually tweeting each new post. That’s not a terrible thing for me, since I don’t post with great frequency, usually 2-3 times per week. However, it’s not very simple, and it is tedious. So, I turned to a Wordpress plugin – namely, Twitter Tools. Now, Twitter Tools did the job, but it added a bunch of separate plugins to Wordpress, and really just cluttered things up. Again, not what I was looking for.
So, the next step was a service called Twitter Feed. It pulls your RSS feed and tweets based on that. It worked OK, but had some formatting issues. Not quite there yet.
That brings me to today. Finally, there’s a perfect solution. Feedburner, which is of course owned by The Great Google, added a nifty little feature. Similar to Twitter Feed, Feedburner will link up to your Twitter account, pull your latest posts, and tweet them. However, the formatting is perfect, which is much more professional looking. There’s one more big deal though:
I already use Feedburner.
That’s right, I cancelled my Twitter Feed account. A good service, to be sure, but redundant. Since I already use Feedburner for my RSS feeds, consolidating my auto tweets just makes sense. Less sites to be a member of, less logins to remember, less passwords to forget. Works as advertised, very simple, perfect.
P.S. Thanks to David Beach for helping me get over my writer’s block. I’m sorry for not writing about warbled soup, though.
