SingleTasker Saturday is a new feature here at The Simple Llama. Every Saturday, I’ll feature an item that does, well, just a single task. These items go against everything I believe in, and are meant for everyone’s amusement. I don’t intend to purchase any of the SingleTaskers, and I don’t recommend that you do either.
Continuing with the banana theme, this SingleTasker Saturday brings you a wondrous device. No self-respecting kitchen should be without this magnificent creation, really. When you free your banana from the safety of its Banana Bunker, chances are good that you may want to slice it. Nothing beats a bowl of cereal with sliced bananas on top.
But how do you slice the banana?
Your first though might be to use a knife. That, however, would be absurd. Can you imagine – making all those individual cuts? You could be cutting the banana for literally 15 seconds. Unacceptable. Fortunately, the Banana Slicer exists, and it solves all your problems. Well, all of your banana slicing problems, in any case.
Sit your banana on the counter, and press the banana slicer over it, and presto! What previously took as much as 15 seconds, now takes just 3. Well, 3 seconds, and space in your already crowded kitchen drawers. But once you’ve sliced bananas using the Banana Slicer, you’ll wonder how you ever did without it.

What if the banana doesn’t fit?
I’ve had problems with my mango slicer when the seed inside was just too fat to make it through.
Woooow. It’s not even like it takes the place of dangerous sharp objects seeing as you could do that with a butter knife — or heck, a spoon or even your fingers.
I have a french fry slicer and an apple slicer, but at least those can be used in other ways. For example, I could make zucchini sticks or onion wedges. They aren’t must-haves, though.
The apple slicer isn’t something I have, but it certainly has far more utility than the banana slicer. I think using a butter knife would actually be quicker & easier!
