The entitlement mentality is one that seems to spread by the day. You deserve a good job. You deserve to own a big house in a great neighborhood. You deserve a 90″ television, hooked up to digital cable with 600 channels. You deserve access to the greatest doctors in the country. You deserve a carefree retirement, traveling the world. You deserve this. You deserve that. I have news for you.
No one owes you anything.
You don’t deserve any of those things above. You can have them – if you really want them. You’ll have to work for them, though; they come at a price. But no one’s going to give them to you. The world doesn’t owe you a living, and it doesn’t owe you luxuries.
To get all these things takes a lot of work
If you’re willing to work your butt off, you can have everything above, and more. But the cost involved may not be worth it to you. Will you miss spending some of that time with your wife and kids? Will you miss not being able to relax on your porch in the evenings, because you’re stuck at work?
Make a decision
Sure, you can work, work, work, and have all sorts of luxuries to make life “easier.” Or, you can choose to skip some of the luxuries, and enjoy life more along the way. Work smarter, work less – and spend the rest of your time living. Make the choice to give up some worldly luxuries so that you can experience more, live in the moment, and focus on the things that matter. Things like your religion ( if you’re spiritual ), your spouse, your children, your family. Whatever matters most to you in life, spend more time on that, instead of chasing things that make life “better”.
I say simpler is better, and I’ll spend my time living, instead of chasing.
