Tonight I’ve released the newest version of the Simple Llama design. Officially I’m calling it 2.0, since it’s the second design created from scratch by yours truly. Just like last time, though, it’s built on the excellent Thesis framework.

The first thing you’re sure to notice is the lack of stuff in the new design. My sidebar is stripped down to the absolute barest essentials – an email subscription box on the main pages, and a search box on individual post pages. That’s it – no category links, recent articles, or fancy widgets. In fact, I’m not using a single widget in this design.

I’ve also decided to scrap my Archives page. Instead, I’ve combined the About page and Archives page. Instead of a boring list of links, I’ve dispersed the links to various categories in my About page. That way, when you read my story, you can jump to the things that interest you.

Finally, I’ve axed a few categories. The biggest one was Time Management, which really isn’t all that different from Simplicity, when you get right down to it. I have a feeling I can pare a few more off eventually.

So that’s about it. This is the new Simple Llama. If it doesn’t look gorgeous on your screen, would you let me know in the comments? I try to test in all major browsers, but sometimes one slips by me.

Most of all, I wanted to remind all of us not to forget the reason we celebrate Christmas. Though we don’t know the exact day, December 25th is the day Christians celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, Savior of the world.

So when you’re gathered together with your family, perhaps before you enjoy a Christmas feast, might I suggest reading from the Book of Luke, chapter 2? A bit of reflection may do you some good, on this day of celebration.

Hi there - could you help spread the word about The Simple Llama? This is a new site, and I could really use your help in getting my work out to new readers. If you would send someone a link, email, or even mention it to your friends, I would appreciate it.

Though The Simple Llama is a brand new project, I’m laying out my schedule now for all to see. Every Monday and Thursday, there will be a new article here at the Simple Llama. That is, unless I have absolutely nothing of value to say – in which case I will remain silent. Barring that ( and could you really imagine!? ), two great articles will appear here weekly.

That’s it – you won’t see 10 articles per week here, or even one per day ( yet ). Quite frankly, I don’t have the time to write that much, and you probably don’t have the time to read that much, either. So for now, two articles per week it is. To all my early readers, thanks for reading. Oh, and tell a friend about the site, would you?
